Welcome to “A Village Show Room For All Things To Do With Interior Design!” The purpose of the site is to give you inspired ideas and practical tips in all things related to your home’s interior design. It certainly is not going to be an “arty farty” website for design gurus and geeks! No, it’s for people like you and me, who have an interest in home décor, furniture and furnishings principally for their own homes.
I will have some guest bloggers who will impart tips and advice from their wealth of knowledge on their particular subject without being too technical. My Name is Max Norton and if you want to ask any questions or indeed, suggest a topic for me to cover, please fill out the details on the Contact Us Form. I live in the UK, but don’t let that be an issue. Interior design and home decorations are global problems/opportunities for everyone around the world. I know fashions may vary from country to country but that is part of the fun.
I’ll be covering topics throughout the home and it doesn’t matter how large or small your home is. It could range from a studio flat to a grand mansion in the country and probably a load of variations in-between. It’s all interior stuff so I won’t be covering the outside of the house or the garden, there are plenty of others doing that. Let’s just stick with the inside. Interior design has many different definitions and tends to mean different things to different people. So for the purpose of clarity I will define for you what I mean by your home’s interior design.
I will go through the home room by room. For example there are so many interior design opportunities in the bedroom. Just think about what you could do with fitted bedroom furniture such as bespoke fitted wardrobes. They do not necessarily work out much more expensive than the crappy flat pack stuff so many people indulge in these days, especially when you factor in your time in designing, measuring, collecting and then assembling the dam things. No it is sometimes better to let experts loose on your project and admire the final results – properly “designed to fit” fitted wardrobes installed by craftsmen. That will really have the “Wow Factor” over flat pack. You can easily source a reputable local business in your area – believe me.
We shall also be looking at the other rooms, the kitchen, lounge and dining rooms being of particular interest. We will also need to pay special attention to colour schemes, decorations and soft furnishings as well as furniture in general. So the whole thing is flexible and to a certain extent will depend on what you suggest I cover. I can’t wait to get started. I’ll build this site up gradually as I have a “day job” to keep up with! So bear with me if you think I’m not posting quickly enough.
From time to time I will make recommendations which you are free to follow or ignore as you see fit. This site is not being built as a sales platform to make money, it’s purely for my own benefit. I will not be making offers or collecting your email details to bombard you with offers. You may be intrigued by the website title – Village at the Crossing. It’s a sort of play on words and appeals to my weird sense of humour. It’s a village show room, packed with ideas, for you to browse and peruse. It’s at a cross road from where you can go any way you like. So stop for a while and take a look, no obligation……
